Shibori Dyeing
Shibori is a Japanese manual tie-dyeing technique, which produces a number of different patterns on fabric.

1. Nui Shibori : A simple running stitch is used on the cloth then pulled tight to gather the cloth. The thread must be pulled very tight to work. Each thread is secured by knotting before being dyed. This technique allows for greater control of the pattern and greater variety of pattern.

2. Honeycomb Shibori : Fabric is wrapped or rolled around a piece of cord or rope. Then a knot is tied using both the ends of the cord and pulled tight which gathers and compresses the fabric around it. It is then dyed. The formation of patterns depends upon the thickness of the cord and folding of the fabric.

Itajime shibori : It is a shaped-resist technique. The folded cloth is sandwiched between two pieces of wood, which are held in place with string or with C-clamps. The shapes prevent the dye from penetrating the fabric they cover.
